Bowls Challenge at Sunshine RSL

Well lets say it was warm in the bus, but the sun gods didn't come out on this Sunday. We arrived a little early because we had a dream run in the bus. On board were New Members Dane, Daniel, Alex and James who thought he was just going to tag along. Our Regulars Monty, Christie, Rob French, Feliks and Chris rounded out our share of the Pythjons-Bayside combo.

On a very slick synthetic green with a vey cool cross wind it took a little while for everyone to get their bearings but by the end of the first hour everyone was on top of their game,  even James. After a hearty lunch of snags, salad and ice creams we got back outside for the arvo session. In the end it was a tight tussle against the Western Warriors who eventually won the day by one game, 6 to 5. That makes the score an even 1 all after last years battle at Edithvale. Well Done Everyone.

September 14 - Fundraiser at Bunnings

Well Sunday at bunnings was a bit of a hoot and after organising things through the week the first hour made me think we had overdone it. Feliks Senior, Feliks Junior and his mate Will were there early to help get the ball rolling but it seemed that we had an awful lot of snags and onions and not a lot of customers. By the time Rob French and his mum arrived for their shift we were well into the esky full of snags. Boy it was getting busy. We jumped from the frying pan into the fire and then into the furnace, Rob's mum saw out the morning and Matt Boudrie and family did the rest of the lunchtime shift, the faster I put the snags on the BBQ Tony took them off. At about 2.30 things eased and the toughest part was over. Jared Bardsley and his mum turned up for the last shift and helped with the packing up for what turned out to be a great day.

Thanks everyone for your help, the grand total of sales was just short of $1900 from which we profitted about $1450, a great effort.

Sunday 13 July

On Sunday 13th July Pythons got together for just that, a mid winter game to keep in touch with each other. The intension for the day was to have some pairs games but due to lack of numbers singles were played instead.

It started out wet with light drizzle falling and it got cold from there. To everyones credit, we stuck it out and three games of 15 ends were played. There were some thrilling games and surprising results.  

Thanks to John Sargent, John Adams, Paul Richards, Trudy Everett and Peter Martin for sticking it out Marking in the cold and rain for us.

   Recently Nick Poda, Monty Morgan, Matt Boudrie and Rob French were entered in the Victorian Under 18 Squad Trials at Burden Park. In what turned out to be a less than ideal day for bowls the wet conditions saw them sent to the clubrooms on more than one occasion.

   Each of them doing their best, to gain a spot in the squad. Matt Boudrie really tested himself by bowling with his 3 week old bowls, and Monty Morgan would you believe it adapted quite well with his new bowls, picked up the night before, (nuts or what).

   Anyhow, unfortunately none of them were successfull in landing a spot but each of them enjoyed the day and the new friendships that were made.
